Love Your Neighbor

For our BFA senior thesis project, we were instructed to choose a community that we do not belong to, and use design to create a solution for a problem. I decided to advocate for the muslim community. I did that by creating a neutral space for non-muslims to learn more about the muslim community. I made the designs clean and inviting so that viewers would feel welcomed to educate themselves. The space in the gallery was also decorated accordingly to feel very home-like and inviting.

I created four applications for the gallery space. Two posters that described the situation of Muslims in America. One booklet that describes the fundamental beliefs of Islam. Two sticker designs with the phrases “Allahu Akbar” and “Assalamu Alykum”, along with their translations. And lastly, postcards with quotes from actual Muslims about their experience.
